Five Hollywood Clichés: Horror Films

1. The killer wears a mask to hide a disfigured face.
2. The would-be victim falls while trying to escape, injuring their leg/foot.
3. The killer fumbles when attempting to kill the main character (despite killing off friends quickly and easily).
4. After being hit/shot/stabbed etc the killer gets up again at least once.
5. If there’s more than one killer, they’re a bunch of inbred hillbillies.

Five Hollywood Clichés: Teen Films

1. The protagonist is in love with the hottest girl/guy in school.
2. Popular students are jocks and cheerleaders.
3. Unpopular students are ridiculed by said jocks and cheerleaders.
4. A much-loved classic car gets trashed.
5. The so-called ugly girl/guy who gets a makeover is already obviously attractive.

Five Hollywood Clichés: Romantic Comedies

1. The man and woman are an unlikely match and (at first) despise each other.
2. Friends are quirky and provide insight and/or comedic moments.
3. Couples get together because of a bet etc; this causes an inevitable break up, then subsequent make up.
4. The attempt to win someone back includes a frantic dash to somewhere like the airport.
5. Montages show happy moments (dates) and/or sad moments (break ups) and are often set to music.

Five Hollywood Clichés: Action Films

1. Guns have an endless supply of bullets.
2. Explosions occur in slow motion.
3. Bombs are disarmed with only seconds to spare (you don't even have to be an expert to disarm them).
4. Cops are either divorced or have marital problems.
5. The hero never dies... but sidekicks are expendable.
