"Based On True Events"

I want to see this film based on the poster, but not because it says it's based on true events because I seriously doubt that the events that happened in reality are anything like what will be depicted in the film. It's probably about as "true" as The Strangers was.

According to the IMDb, The Strangers was partially based on an incident that occurred during director Bryan Bertino's childhood. A stranger came to his door in the middle of the night asking for someone who wasn't there, and then left. He later found out several homes in his neighbourhood had been broken into that night. The film was advertised as being inspired by true events, giving many people the impression that the events that occurred in the film had actually happened.
